The Moon

“Ahead of its time” is a phrase that definitely applies to The Moon. So is “flash in the pan”. Alas!

Formed in 1991 by former members of Point Blank, Reliable Source, and Destination, The Moon merged the sounds of Detroit during the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. Take the Motown sound of The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. Add the Detroit rock of Bob Seger, Mitch Ryder, Grand Funk Railroad, and Ted Nugent. Mix in a heavy dose of Detroit/Chicago blues from John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, etc.. Sprinkle in a little bit of everything else going on in rock and roll during that time, from U2 to Stevie Ray Vaughan to The J. Geils Band. Let simmer for 30+ years and you have the Moon sound.
